Week 5 Task & Entry

Write a short essay of about 400 words about the below stated issue: news and you, again.
Who owns the newspapers and TV stations in your country? Do you think this has an effect on the news that you hear?

There are a number of newspapers and TV stations in Malaysia which both of them are collect and provide news to all the reader and audience. There are similarity on this both station which they convey the current event and information that usually happening around our own country. There are different races in Malaysia, so Malaysia has different language of newspapers such as Malay, English, Chinese and Tamil.

Malay language newspaper is the main and larger amount of newspaper that publishes from Malaysia follow by English and Chinese language newspaper. There are over 30 mewspapers and tabloids which published from Malaysia. The most popular newspapers in Malaysia included Berita Harian, The Star, New Straits Time and Sin Chew Daily. Malaysian newspapers are for information on local issues, politics, events, celebrations, people and business. There are two type of newspaper company in Malaysia which either owned by the government or owned by component parties of the Barisan Nasional coalition government. For instance, The Star is an English language and tabloid format newspaper. It is majority owned by the Malaysia Chinese Association based on government of Malaysia. Meanwhile, Sin Chew Daily is a leading Chinese language newspaper in Malaysia which owned by Sin Chew Media Corporation Berhad, a subsidiary of Media Chinese International Limited.

On the other hands, there are 11 channels TV in Malaysia. Three of them are government public-owned by Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) which are the two television channels terrestrial free-to-air TV1 and TV2 while TV Alhijraj are public government-owner by Al Hijrah Media Corporation. The TV3, NTV7, 8TV and TV9 are private commercial-owned by Media Prima, Worldview Broadcasting (Malaysia) Sendirian Berhad are private commercial owned by Media Citra Berhad. Besides, Astro also is one of the TV channels which are popular around the Malaysia. Astro is owned and operated by Astro Television Network System Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Astro Malaysia Holdings Sdn Bhd that owned by Astro Holdings Sdn Bhd.

I believe that both newspaper and TV station provide the true and correct information of society to the people. There are different crimes and fact everywhere in our daily life that will convey by both of these media. There are also telling about the political, economic and social changes in different countries. Sometime, there describe the changes of government, resolution and other societies in education, science and medicine industry. In short, the news from the newspaper and TV are more reliable than other media because there have go under investigation of a subject, performs research and conducts interviews to gather information before they spread out the message to the people.
